    CHAMBER NOTES FROM GOVT/GOVT-RELATED MEETING

    Type of Meeting: VOP Regular Meeting of the Board

    Caveat: This document reflects the Chamber representative's own personal notes and highlights of business-related topics discussed at the meeting.  Official meeting minutes of this Public Meeting will be available for review of the VOP website once they are approved by the Board.

     

    Chamber’s notes from the meeting:

    • Oak Park Arts District awarded $25,000 to fund a banner program, which will result in artists creating unique banners for the 34 light poles in the district. Village staff directed to cut $25,000 elsewhere from the 2018 budget to fund the project.

    • Environment and Energy Commission presented recommendations to pursue solar projects with funding from the energy aggregation funds

    • Two Fools Cider selected as the preferred developer to develop a parcel on North Avenue with the intent of creating a Cider manufacturing facility and retail tasting room

    • Initial presentation on Lake Street Resurfacing and Streetscape project.  Second portion of the presentation will happen at the Board’s Feb 26 meeting.  If approved, project will begin in spring, 2019 and finish in fall, 2020.  As presented, project costs $18.8 MM, which excludes the $200,000 additional monies requested by the business community to fund marketing activities during the project timeline.
