• Groups: Young Professionals

  • All young (and young-identifying!) members of the OPRF Chamber are invited to join this group.  We share experiences, meet people facing similar career issues and discuss areas of professional development.

Connecting business to business and business to community.

  • When Does this Group Meet?

    • COVID-19 UPDATE - As of June 2020 we are starting to gather again in small numbers! Check out the listing below to see how you can connect with us!

    REGULAR SCHEDULE

    • MONTHLY PROGRAMMING:  Most 3rd Thursdays from 8:30 - 10 am, we hold a professional development breakfast meetup at a local restaurant or coffee shop with a featured speaker.
    • EVENING EVENTS:  Roughly quarterly, we substitute a fun evening event - happy hour, a tour of a fun destination, or partnering with a local nonprofit on a fundraiser.

    Where Does this Group Meet?

All over the community! The mission of this group is to get out of the office, see what's new and have fun so there is no set meeting place. Keep a keen eye on the Chamber's Community Calendar for specific locations.

    Want Regular Updates?

If you'd like to get involved and receive regular updates on what the Young Professionals are up to, just send an email to Mark Walden (mwalden@oprfchamber.org) to get added to our mailing list!

  • Meet-Ups in 2020

COVID-19 UPDATE - Since March 2020 our regular schedule has had to change! Our gatherings are now being planned in accordance with CDC Guidelines and the Illinois 5-Phase re-opening plan, so things are still in a little flux.  Although we have events listed below, we encourage you to please check the Chamber's event calendar to confirm the details of our next gathering.

    JUNE 25, 2020 - (4:30pm - 6:30pm) Street Dining Meetup! - CLICK HERE to register.

Join us for summer street dining as we gather (outdoors with social distancing!) to catch up with each other and meet a few new folks.  Bring your own food and drink from local restaurants or cafes within a couple of blocks of Marion & Lake Street, and come find us at the outdoor tables!  RSVPs preferred so we can claim the right amount of table-space.

AUGUST 27, 2020 - (4:30pm - 6pm) Frank Lloyd Wright architectural walking tour and popsicle pop-up! CLICK HERE to register.

This month we're enjoying the outdoors and local architecture with "Wright in the Neighborhood," a walking tour of Frank Lloyd Wright homes.  We'll start at the Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio to meet our trained guide, then get a narrated outside tour of local Wright-designed homes.  And as a bonus, we'll get a visit from Popify, our local boutique popsicle artisans, with gourmet popsicles available for purchase as a snack along the way.  (bring $4 to get your tasty frozen delight!)

    SEPTEMBER 24, 2020 - (8:30am - 10am) Coffee in the Park - CLICK HERE to register.

Join us for a casual, socially-distanced gathering, sipping coffee together in Scoville Park!  Pick up a cup of your favorite coffee and meet us at the southeast corner of the park, and we'll enjoy fresh air and good company.  We recommend Mulata Kitchen or L!VE Cafe as a source of your coffee - both Chamber member businesses, people-of-color-owned, and conveniently located on Oak Park Avenue south of the park.

Have an Idea for a Meet-up?

Do you have a fabulous place you would like to take the group? Know that perfect "hidden gem" location you want to share? Then email Mark Walden right now and tell him all about it! Email Mark at mwalden@oprfchamber.org.

  • WHAT OUR MEMBERS

    ARE SAYING...

"As much as I love events like 'Business After Hours' for networking, it's been the Young Professionals meet ups that have fostered deeper connections and collaborations through more intimate settings with like-minded individuals. Thank you for creating this monthly space for us!"
