Young Professionals GLIBQUAPS Mixer at Wild Onion Tied House
Join us as the OPRF Chamber Young Professionals host an evening mixer at Wild Onion Tied House to learn something new, meet people, enjoy a local gastropub and have a good time!
WHAT'S THE SCOOP ON THIS MIXER?
Following in the footsteps of the international Pechakucha 20 x 20 format, this event will use the local GLIBQUAPS adaptation, where our presenters teach a skill in 15 slides! What's the twist? They will have 15 seconds to talk about each slide! And the images will advance automatically. 225 seconds to teach a skill - and see if they can keep up with themselves! This is our second year of GLIBQUAPS and last year was great fun!
WHAT DOES YOUR TICKET INCLUDE? Your ticket includes fabulous Tied House appetizers, 3 beers from the famous Wild Onion brewery, and lots of fun! This is a fast-paced and high-energy get-together, so come ready to get involved, meet people and learn something new.
WHAT IS THE WILD ONION ABOUT? The Wild Onion Tied House is a retail establishment for a local brewery, which produces 17 different local beers. It's also know for its food, created on-site and often featuring the in-house smoker. Chef Carlos Belon hails from Argentina and has worked in kitchens all over the world, bringing those skills back to bring a stylish and elevated twist to American cuisine. Let us know if you're vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free - we'll craft the evening's menu to make it work for all our guests.
WHO WILL BE THERE? This event is hosted by the Young Professionals of the OPRF Chamber of Commerce, but you don't have to be a Chamber member or one of the YP group to attend - we're just the organizers!
WHAT WILL HAPPEN? You'll learn a lot quickly from some fun people! Topics so far include:
* " How To Win At An Escape Room" - presenters: Dexter Cura & Jonathan Biag, owners, Escape Factor
* " How To Get On A Ballot and Run a Campaign" - Christian Harris, Oak Park village trustee candidate
* "How To Declutter and Get Organized" - Lucia Gascue-Carol, owner, Serenity Interior Solutions
* "How To Disconnect from Difficult Situations" - Amanda Young, owner, Clean Up Your Energy
* "How to Speed-Read for Key Content" - Christopher Lufrano, principal, Lufrano Law
* "How To Buy Real Estate When You Don't Have Money" - Mark Walden, associate, Medical Ambassadors Haiti
... and more from Mic Altena, Cyndie Chow, Janien Hammonds, Vik Schrader and others!
WANT TO BE A PRESENTER?
Send us an email of a few sentences, pitching what skill you can teach! (vmatheny@cmhb-oakpark.org) Skills can be anything - how to appeal your property taxes, how to make a Manhattan, how to meditate, how to survive if stranded on Jupiter, whatever! We'll choose about a dozen of the most promising, with a first round of applicants reviewed by Friday January 25.
Presenters will receive tips for doing their best GLIBQUAPS presentation, and on to whom to send their Powerpoint file by day's end on Friday February 22. This is your chance to show what you can do for clients; position yourself as subject matter expert; or just help save lives, if any of us are stranded on Jupiter.
