Broadening Our Horizons Beyond Our Own Backyard

As metropolitan, inclusive and diverse as Oak Park-River Forest prides itself to be, we live in a bubble. We eat local, shop local, and conduct the majority of our business locally (as we should.)  We went to high school with our dentist and our kids' soccer coach is probably our cousin's sister-in-law. That being said, sometimes an outside opinion or perspective is not always welcome, or embraced. But a fresh outlook can bring welcome insight, innovative ideas and (god forbid) needed change.

If we learned anything the past couple of years, we learned change is inevitable. We have also learned we need to pivot on a dime, roll with the punches, and every other cliche pertaining to change and resilience. Local businesses have been impacted significantly by overnight advancements in technology, the global economy and trade. Businesses, especially small and locally owned, need to stay one step ahead of the game to stay afloat, stay relevant and stay open.

Innovative thinkers are paving the way to improve commerce and look out for the local merchant and entrepreneur. Please join us for the Chamber of Commerce's 7th annual Economic Luncheon on Thursday, June 23 at Dominican University as four of the country's leading visionary minds discuss the future of the economy and the role of technology.
