We're seeing a lot of news stories about the US Supreme court. But what is really happening at the SCOTUS right now? This talk will dive into the Supreme Court at this important moment in time. We'll start by talking about the role of the Supreme Court at the founding and how it's evolved over time. We'll talk about how SCOTUS works now--from the appointment of justices to the selection of cases to the issuance of decisions. and we'll explore some of the big cases and issues on the Court's docket this term.
Sarah Konsky is a Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the Supreme Court and Appellate Clinic at the University of Chicago Law School. She represents parties and amici curiae in cases before the US Supreme Cout and other appellate courts. Before joining the law school faculty, Prof Konsky was a partner at Sidley Austin LLP. Prof Konsky received her BS from the U of I Urbana/Champaign and her JD from the U of C Law School. She was a law clerk for Chief Judge Mary M Schroeder on the US Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. Prof Konsky is an elected member of the American Law Institue, as well as a board member of the Pro Bono Network.
