Ugly Prey - Lecture & Book Signing with Emilie Lucchesi
Pleasant Home Foundation welcomes Author & Historian Emilie Lucchesi as she presents her new book Ugly Prey – the true story of an innocent woman sentenced to die for the murder of her missing husband.
The 1923 story of Sabella Nitti was overshadowed by the high profile cases of two other women who were on Murderess Row along with Sabella. These women were glamorous & charming and not only were they acquitted of murder, they inspired the 1926 play Chicago. Sabella, on the other hand, was an immigrant with a ragged appearance who was sentenced to hang for a crime she did not commit. A mere 95 days separated the verdict from Sabella’s execution date. Could anyone save her?
Emilie Lucchesi will transport our audience to Jazz Age Chicago with her captivating storytelling skills as she shares her research on the death sentence that scandalized the Windy City.
The Book Table will also be present to sell signed copies of Ugly Prey.
