34th Annual "Tale of the Tombstones" Cemetery Walk
The Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest will host its annual “Tale of the Tombstones” cemetery walk starting at noon Sunday, Oct. 19, at Forest Home Cemetery, 863 Desplaines Ave., Forest Park.This year’s theme is “American Dreams and Nightmares.” Costumed actors will tell the stories of past residents who made their fortunes in the villages and lived what many consider the “American Dream.” Victims of the Eastland disaster and Iroquois Theatre fire will be among the “nightmares” portrayed.
Tours start every 10 minutes between noon and 1:30 p.m. The tour lasts between 90 minutes and two hours. Purchase your tickets for a time slot in our online history store at oprfmuseum.org or by calling the museum at 708-848-6755. Tickets cost $25; $20 for members. Order tickets now as space on the tours is limited.Images
