VIRTUAL MEETUP: Nonprofit Affinity Group
Come join the Chamber's nonprofit affinity group for our monthly gathering. This month:
The Strategic Plan is Dead. Now, Let's Strategize. It's that time again. You did this thing about, say, three years ago. It might be in a binder someplace, proverbially collecting dust on a shelf. It's your "strategic plan." As a nonprofit, you're told you need one. And you're told you need to update it, or you need to create a brand new one every so often. It's essential to set direction, "get everyone on the same page," create goals for growth, and so on. You're supposed to share it with your funders, new board members and staff, and partners. There's just one thing: the strategic plan is dead.In this session, Jason Cascarino, Oak Parker and Strategic Advisor and Consultant in the nonprofit space, will facilitate a discussion on how social sector organizations should think about strategy in ways that fit today's world. Members of the Nonprofit Affinity Group will learn some of the latest research literature in the field of nonprofit management and practice specific to developing organizational strategy. Members will also get an overview of using the "Strategic Choices Cascade" framework for strategizing, engaging stakeholders in that process, and communicating about it.Jason Cascarino is a strategic advisor and consultant to a variety of local and national philanthropies, nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions in the education and youth space. In his practice, he has partnered with Crown Family Philanthropies and New York Life Foundation, Mikva Challenge and MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership, and the University of Chicago and University of Virginia, among many others. He is also the host of the "Lessons in Adolescence" podcast series.
Bring your questions, ideas, and observations for the discussion!
Come for the content, and enjoy a little networking with local nonprofit peers as well. See you via Zoom!
