Tchaikovsky Spectacular Presented by Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest
The Symphony of Oak Park and River will present two Tchaikovsky favorites on Sunday, October 8 at 4 p.m. at Dominican University, 7900 West Division Street, River Forest. Ketevan Kartvelishvili will solo in Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. Kartvelishvili was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, where she performed with the Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra at the age of twelve. Her teacher Alexander Toradze called her an “extraordinary artist with limitless abilities.”
The concert also includes Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5. The orchestra is conducted by 2017 Conductor of the Year Jay Friedman. A preconcert conversation begins at 3 p.m., and a free reception will be held after the program. A season subscription for four concerts is $100 or $80 for seniors 65 and older. Volunteers from the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry will accept donations of food and cash at the concert.
