Join us for the first of three lectures as part of the Preservation in Person Lecture Series presented by the Pleasant Home Foundation.
"The American Weigh - Chicago's Art Deco Penny Scales"Oak Park and River Forest inventors featured prominently in the early development of coin-operated public weighing machines from the late 19th century until the outbreak of WWII. The Mills and Watling families competed with other manufacturers until the coming of the bathroom scale that eliminated this early appliance useful in the emerging crusade against obesity.
