Brought To You By: Perceptions & Perspectives On Black Presence In Television
This 4 week-long curated experience, facilitated by Reesheda Graham-Washington, Chief Experience Officer of L!VE Café, and Executive Director of Communities First Association, will meet weekly on Tuesdays through October from 6:30pm-8:00pm to examine the distinctives in modern day depictions of Black life, specifically when produced and directed by people of color.L!VE Café & Creative Space in partnership with Communities First Association has curated a 4 week long series that examines how people of color are depicted in televsion shows that are produced, directed, and/or written by people of color, and how it differs from the imaging we have experienced historically and traditionally. Facilitator, Reesheda Graham-Washington, owner of L!VE Café has intentionally curated The Get Down, Snowfall, Greenleaf, & Survivor's Remorse episodes and identified one poignant episode from each show for the class watch, dissect, examine, and reflect upon in a space that is designed to cultivate stretching, learning, and growing through courageous conversations, vulnerable presence, and intentional relationship building.
Each week will also feature a leader in their field who can offer new depth of perspective on the themes in question for each episode. Structured norms and an established ethos designed to "hold" the tension for learning and growing authentically will also be infused throughout the experience.
