Brennan School of Business Corporate Governance Forum
Dominican University’s Brennan School of Business will present the 14th Annual Edward A. Brennan Forum on Corporate Governance on Tuesday, April 9. The program, which will focus on the changing face of America’s boardrooms, will be held at 7:30 a.m. at the University Club of Chicago, 76 E. Monroe St., Chicago. Although diverse boards enhance a company’s ability to adapt to society’s increasingly multi-cultural landscape, corporate America has long struggled to populate boards with women and minorities. Despite reports that diversity of gender, ethnicity and age correlate with innovation, many large companies have been slow to change. A panel of leading corporate representatives will discuss this issue and why it matters, what it means for companies and stakeholders, and what the future holds. The panel will be moderated by noted corporate governance expert Charles Elson, the Edgar S. Woolard Chair in Corporate Governance at the University of Delaware. Panelists will include: • Adela Cepeda, managing director at PFM; board member at BMO Financial Corp., UBS Funds, and Morgan Stanley Pathway Funds; chair of the board of Mercer Mutual Funds • Michelle Collins, president of Cambium LLC; board member at Ulta Beauty, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, CIBC Bank US, and Health Care Service Corporation • Deborah L. DeHaas, vice chair and national managing partner of the Center for Board Effectiveness at Deloitte; board member at World Business Chicago; vice chair of the board of United Way of Metropolitan Chicago; trustee at Northwestern University and University of Denver • John W. Rogers, Jr., founder and chairman, CEO and chief investment officer at Ariel Investments; board member at McDonald's, NIKE, and The New York Times Company Dominican University’s Brennan School of Business established the annual Edward A. Brennan Forum on Corporate Governance in recognition of the late Edward A. Brennan’s commitment to strong and successful board leadership. In the course of his distinguished career, Brennan served as chairman and CEO of Sears, Roebuck, & Company, and as a director on the boards of many of America’s leading companies, including 3M, American Airlines, Exelon, and McDonald’s. This event is free but registration is required. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m., followed by the panel discussion at 8 a.m. To make a reservation, contact Kate Robards at krobards@dom.edu.
