She is a leading neuroscientist whose research focuses on understanding the brain's response to injury and recovery. She brings critical attention to the often-overlooked role of brain injury in intimate partner violence.\n\nSonya Crabtree-Nelson\, Ph.D.\, LCSW\, panelist\n\nDr. Crabtree-Nelson\, is an Associate Professor of Social Work at DePaul University\, Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Illinois Coalition to Address Intimate Partner Violence Induced Brain Injury. She has over 15 years of direct practice experience in child welfare and domestic violence\, with a focus on trauma and resiliency.\n\nMichele Weldon\, Event Host/Moderator\n\nMichele Weldon is an award-winning journalist and author of seven nonfiction books. She is emerita faculty at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and a senior leader with The OpEd Project.
