SUMMARY:September Nonprofit Affinity Group Meeting: Establishing an Endowment
DESCRIPTION:Please join our nonprofit affinity group for camaraderie and professional development!  We meet the first Thursday of each month from 1-2 pm.  - EXCEPT this month will be the first Wednesday.  This month's topic is:\n\n\n\nEstablishing an Endowment\n\n\n\nThe goal of an endowment is to provide a reliable and consistent stream of funding\, supporting the organization's mission over the long term.\n\n\n\nMeet This Month's Speaker\n\n\n\nCarrie Summy serves as Director of External Affairs and is responsible for supporting and growing the Foundation's fund portfolio and increasing charitable giving to and through the Foundation\, as well as general communications and community engagement. Carrie works primarily with donors and fund holders to carry out their charitable goals and help address socio-economic issues with philanthropic resources. Carrie joined the Foundation in 2016\, and in her tenure\, she re-developed and executed its community leadership program\, was a member of the strategic planning leadership team to reassess the Foundation's purpose and mission\, worked collectively to fundraise and distribute over $1 million in COVID relief funds\, worked on the Foundation's Community Voices report\, an assessment of structural racial barriers and challenges our community members face in the west Cook County region\, and most recently\, as part of the leadership team to operationalize and communicate our community's goals through discretionary grantmaking and investments. Carrie serves on the boards of Wonder Works Children's Museum and the Oak Park-River Forest Chamber of Commerce. She has a habit of trying to learn new competitive sports - from roller derby to tennis- and enjoys hiking and camping with her family in the great outdoors. \n\n\n\nWe will meet at the Oak Park - River Forest Community Foundation\, 1049 Lake St. Suite # 204.\n\nParking is available on Lake St. or the municipal garage on Forest Ave. just north of Lake St.
