SUMMARY:Retail Roundtable May 2019: Throwing A Successful Event
DESCRIPTION:With a focus on retail businesses operating out of "brick and mortar" storefronts\, the "Retail Roundtable" is an open discussion forum for sharing issues\, ideas and best practices. Retail Roundtable meets every other month with a different topic.\n\n\n\nThis month\, we'll discuss "Throwing a Successful Event" for retailers. Our resource people for discussion will be Janice Moskoff\, Special Event Manager for the OPRF Chamber of Commerce\; Vicki Scaman\, Village Clerk for the Village of Oak Park\; and Sara Phyfer from the Village of River Forest. Janice also runs the 1\,500k+ strong OPRF MOMentum Facebook group. In her past work life\, Janice ran her Chicago-based sample sale retail & event business\, Beta Boutique. At its peak\, Beta Boutique was regularly featured in local and national media such as MSNBC\, and even selected as the Chicago representative for a national ad campaign featuring Stacy London from What Not To Wear. By 2010\, the business had 10k+ subscribers and won best-in-class accolades from top Chicago publications\, Time Out Chicago and Chicago Reader.\n\n\n\nVicki and Sara are able to represent the considerations that the Villages bring to organizing retail events: permitting\, alcohol use\, etc. Vicki has been chair of the Oak Park Liquor Review Board\, as well as co-chair of the Arts Roundtable and executive director of the Steckman School of Music. Sara Phyfer has worked in community development for the Village of Riverside and zoning for the City of Milwaukee. \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCome join follow retailers for discussion\, collaboration\, and Fifth Third Bank's hospitality!
