Retail Roundtable meets every other month with a different topic.\n\n\n\nThis month\, we'll discuss "Throwing a Successful Event" for retailers. Our resource people for discussion will be Janice Moskoff\, Special Event Manager for the OPRF Chamber of Commerce\; Vicki Scaman\, Village Clerk for the Village of Oak Park\; and Sara Phyfer from the Village of River Forest. Janice also runs the 1\,500k+ strong OPRF MOMentum Facebook group. In her past work life\, Janice ran her Chicago-based sample sale retail & event business\, Beta Boutique. At its peak\, Beta Boutique was regularly featured in local and national media such as MSNBC\, and even selected as the Chicago representative for a national ad campaign featuring Stacy London from What Not To Wear. By 2010\, the business had 10k+ subscribers and won best-in-class accolades from top Chicago publications\, Time Out Chicago and Chicago Reader.\n\n\n\nVicki and Sara are able to represent the considerations that the Villages bring to organizing retail events: permitting\, alcohol use\, etc. Vicki has been chair of the Oak Park Liquor Review Board\, as well as co-chair of the Arts Roundtable and executive director of the Steckman School of Music.
