DESCRIPTION:The Chamber's Nonprofit Affinity Group gathers the first Thursday of most months to connect with each other and benefit from some professional development.  We start at 12:30 with time to network\, then have our presenter begin at 1 pm.  We welcome you to join us!  \n\n \n\nThis month: "Building a Center of Excellence for Grants"\n\nFocus points for this month's presentation will include research and strategies for sourcing grants. We'll also cover best practices for grant writing and ensuring you have the organizational capacity to successfully steward the grants process and relationships\, as well as other current trends in the sector. \n\n\n\nWHO IS OUR PRESENTER?\n\n\n\n \n\nCathy Yen has over two decades of nonprofit management experience and six years of successful grant writing experience\, having secured well over $2.5MM in grants in the youth development space. Her process includes weaving together mission\, stories\, data\, and need to offer a compelling reason to fund your cause. She is a member of the Grant Professionals Organization\, the Association of Consultants to Nonprofits\, the Chicago Sport for Good Coalition Leadership Council\, and the Association of Leadership Programs\, where she is a candidate for certification in Community Leadership Development.\n\n\n\nAs Founder and CEO of The Nonprofit Planner Company\, Cathy balances her two primary clients\, Beat the Streets Chicago and the Community Connections Leadership Program\, with writing\, speaking\, and consulting in the nonprofit sector. Her focus areas are strategy\, board development\, grant funding\, leadership\, and management. A former Executive Director of the Oak Park - River Forest Chamber of Commerce (2012 - 2018)\, Cathy is excited to share her expertise with a community she knows and loves.\n\n \n\n\n\nLocation and Parking:\n\nSarah's Inn in Forest Park!
