DESCRIPTION:Presented by 90.9 WDCB "Chicago's Home for Jazz!"\n\nConstantine Alexander is a professional jazz trumpeter\, composer\, and educator based in Chicago who serves as the leader of The Firetet. Born to Greek immigrant parents\, he grew up in Chicago and attended Lincoln Park High School before earning music degrees from Roosevelt University and DePaul University. In 2017\, he hosted a jazz jam session at Gino's East Pizzeria\, which led to the creation of his hard-bop jazz quintet. Today\, he plays live music for the Chicago Blackhawks NHL team\, teaches as a jazz trumpet professor at Roosevelt University\, and has shared the stage with music icons like Ron Carter and Randy Brecker.\n\nHis band officially stepped into the spotlight with the release of their self-produced\, self-titled debut album\, Firetet\, on October 18\, 2023. The album features seven original tracks inspired by classic jazz groups like Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. Alongside Alexander on the trumpet\, the band features Roy McGrath on saxophone\, Julius Tucker on piano\, Ben Dillinger on bass\, and Greg Essig on drums.
