    Motivating the Unmotivated

How do you 'Motivate the Unmotivated?' This phrase was used in a recent conversation about staffing shortages and hiring difficulties. Candidates don't show up for scheduled interviews, employees work one shift and never return, etc. There appears to be a disconnect between employers and employees/ candidates and no single answer can fix a broken system. But there is hope and it's a two-way street.

First, consider there four motivational catalysts for bosses and employees. These are essential to engaging prospective employees.

Secondly, if you are the candidate, consider the Three Laws of Interviewing Motivation. After sheltering in place and being home for almost two years, many people feel extra anxiety around meeting others, interviewing in-person and simply embracing change. The Three Laws can ease that anxiety.

Employers - please remember your employees and candidates are real people and have feelings and lives. (Most of you are actually quite good at this already. Thank you.) However, for the few bosses that need gentle reminders, please read Forbes Leadership Strategy. Team and individual dynamics are key.
