SchoolsFounded in 1901, Dominican University is a comprehensive, coeducational Catholic institution offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Dominican offers 50 undergraduate academic programs in the Rosary College of Arts and Sciences and 15 graduate programs through the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, the Graduate School of Business and Information Systems, the School of Education and the Graduate School of Social Work. In the 2004 issue of America’s Best Colleges, U. S. News & World Report ranked Dominican University in the top tier of Midwest master’s level universities and as a Best Value for the sixth year.
Dominican University is located in beautiful suburban River Forest, 10 miles west of Chicago's Loop and eight miles south of O'Hare International Airport, at 7900 West Division Street, River Forest, IL 60305. The phone number is (708) 366-2490 or (800) 828-8475 outside the Chicagoland area. Dominican, with approximately 2,700 students, offers a 37-acre wooded campus. The newly-renovated, state-of-the-art Rebecca Crown Library has 300,000 materials in various formats and a fully-equipped learning resource center. Other features include a language learning center, a computer technology center, an art gallery, a chapel, a student center, undergraduate science research laboratories, the Lund Auditorium, the Recital Hall and the Stepan Bookstore. Three residence halls exist on the main campus with a third a few blocks away on the Priory Campus. Athletics facilities include a pool, an indoor running track and a fitness center. The student population is richly diverse. Students are comprised from 24 states, 18 foreign countries and a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The student-faculty ratio at Dominican is 13:1. The average undergraduate class size is 15. Eighty-nine percent of the faculty hold doctorates or the highest degree in their field. Dominican offers a wide range of opportunities for men and women to
compete in athletics at the intercollegiate level. Dominican is affiliated
with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III and
the Northern Illinois Iowa Conference (NIIC). Intramurals and club sports
are also available.
